Ford's Theatre Oratory Program

Independent’s participation in the Ford's Theatre Oratory program expanded last year to include the Lower School. Each year two 5th grade delegates are selected to join our 8th grade delegates in Washington DC.

Congrats to 5th graders, Kara R. and Hadley M. on being named Independent's Ford's Theatre delegates. The students were selected based on grades, citizenship, progress with speech analysis, and a final presentation of a historic American speech. Runners-up included Annabella S., Sam M., Janae K., and Ella Jane S.

A special thanks to our guest judges: Alan Held (Artistic Director of Wichita Grand Opera, and Director of Opera at Wichita State University), Margaret McIntire (Chief of the charging unit for Mark Bennet, District Attorney), and Katherine Neelly Burton (senior pastor at Grace Presbyterian Church).
