The Independent School is a private, independent, co-educational college preparatory school, which serves the needs of a wide variety of diverse students from pre-kindergarten through Grade 12.

Summer Office Hours: Beginning June 1, 2009 through August 7, 2009, the school will be open Mon.–Thurs. 9-3 and 9-12 on Friday.

 

The offices of the school will be closed the week of June 29th and reopen after the 4th of July weekend.

 

The school will return to regular office hours  Aug. 10th 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

 

Lower School Summer Reading Requirements:

 

Second Grade: The Boxcar Children by Gertrude Chandler Warner

Third grade: Charlotte's Web by E.B. White

Fourth Grade: Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing by Judy Blume and How to Eat Fried Worms by Thomas Rockwell

Fifth Grade:  All must read – Shiloh by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor Plus one of the following:

Dragon's Breath by E. Baker or Secret of Platform 13 by Eva Ibbotson
